Envirnment Day (05/06/2011)
In connection with world environment day, seedling supplied by
department of social forestry were planted in the campus. School Principal
Beena Jose inaugurated the programme by planting the first seedling.
Gardening
NSS volunteers beautified the campus by planting flowering plants.
Programme Officer and Higher Secondary Teachers gave instructions to the
volunteers.
Observation
of International Day against Drug abuse And Illicit
On June 27th the unit observed the international anti
drug abuse day. Health inspector Sijo Jose from madikai PHC conducted a class
on the topic. NSS volunteer leader Abhinand had done the welcome speech. Kumari
Varalashmi proposed vote of thanks.
In
the afternoon session, there was a film show on the same topic.
Cleaning
of Campus surroundings
On July 2nd, NSS volunteers under the leadership of
programme officer cleaned the campus and surroundings.
Awareness
on Ragging.
A seminar was conducted on the topic Ragging. The programme proved
to be useful for the students as it made the students aware of the various
aspects of ragging. Sri Suresh Kokkot, HSST English presented the topic. NSS
volunteer Sreejith made the welcome address. The vote of thanks was proposed by
Ruchiga.
gramavanam – planting
seedlings (30/07/2011)
In connection with “Gramavanam” programme the NSS Unit of GHSS
Madikai planted the seedlings inside the school compound. More than 500
seedlings of different trees were given to school by the forest department. The
NSS Volunteers planted these seedlings inside the school compound. After this,
they cleaned the school and surroundings. Fifty volunteers from Plus two
classes and ninety students from plus one classes took part in the above
mentioned activities.
The NSS Volunteers were divided into
10 groups and they were assigned the duty for looking after the planted
seedlings and the follow up work.
The programme was inaugurated by
Sri. Narayanan. K , PTA president. The principal and teachers were present on
the occasion. Sri. Priyesh Kumar, Programme officer, Sri. Vinod Kumar. M (HSST
Physics) and Smt. Divya Joseph (HSST Chemistry) gave necessary instructions to
the volunteers.
HIROSHIMA DAY (06/08/2011)
NSS Unit of GHSS Madikai observed Hiroshima day on 06/08/10. As the part of this a Rally, pledge
against war, Poster display were conducted by NSS Volunteers. All NSS
Volunteers are participated in the rally carrying placards showing anti-war
slogans.
ORIENTATION CLASS (10/08/2011)
NSS Unit, GHSS Madikai conducted an orientatin class for NSS
volunteers on 10.08.11 at 2 PM. Programme officer Priyesh Kumar lead the
programme by using Power point presentation about NSS, Its structure and
functions.
INDEPENDENCE
DAY CELEBRATION (15/08/2011)
Our nations 65th
Independence day was celebrated under the auspices of NSS unit of GHSS Madikai
in a befitting manner. The function was started at 8.30 AM in school assembly and Smt. Beena Jose
, Pincipal of the institutions hoisted the nations tricolour. As part of the
independence day fete a meeting was also convened at 9.30 AM.
In connection with independence day
celebration competitions of Patriotic Songs, Elocution and Quiz on history of
freedom struggle were conducted on 12th August 2011 and NSS volunteer actively
participated in those contents.
In the Quiz competation Seetha Nambiar &
Vineeth of Plus two Science got first prize and Anoop & Jishnu of Plus One
Science got Second prize.
TRAINING ON DRINKING WATER
TEST – 17/08/2011
A training programme was conducted for the NSs volunteers on
drinking water test. Drinking water test is the combined project of UNICEF,
Water authority and Higher secondary NSS. Training programme was given by
programme officer and two NSS Volunteer secretaries.
Drinking Water Test.
NSS Volunteers were divided into groups and collected 111 samples of
water from different wards of Madikai Grama Panchayath and 3 samples from
Nileshwar municipality. They tested all water samples and found that 36 water
samples contain acidity. It is also found bacteria in 6 samples on coliform
analysis.
Onam Celebration.
Onam celebration was conducted by NSS Unit and PTA of School. In
association with these onam celebration there was ‘Pookalamatsaram’,
‘Onasdhya’, ‘Kambavaly’ and other programmes. Plus Two Commerce got 1st
place and Plus One commerce got 2nd place in ‘Pookalam’ and Plus One
Science got 1st place and plus One Humanities got 2nd
place in ‘Kambavaly’.

DAY
NSS Unit of GHSS Madikai celebrated NSS Day. NSS Volunteers
conducted Skits about different subjects like alcohol, drugs and the problems
faced by women in society.
AWARENESS
CLASS
An awareness class on leptosyrosis was organized by NSS unit. Sri.
Kumaran Sir, HM, GHSS Madikai inaugurated the function. Kumari Rathna. V
delivered the welcome speech. Sri Sijo Jose dealt the class. It was nice and
effective class. NSS volunteers became aware of the subject after the class.
Master Abhinand gave vote of thanks.
GANDHI
JAYANTHI CELEBRATION
Gandhi jayathi was celebrated by the NSS volunteers of GHSS Madikai.
Volunteers and teachers visited the oldage home. Inhabilitants were provided
food grains and foods collected by the volunteers.
ORIENTATION
CLASS
An orientation class was organized on 04/10/11 in the school
auditorium at 1.30 PM for the NSS Volunteers. Sri. Jayachandran, PO, GHSS Chayoth conducted the class through power point
presentation. The class was very effective.
Vegitable planting- krishikoottam
As the part of Krishikoottam, NSS unit organized the vegitable
planting programmme. They planted more than 15 kinds of vegitable seeds on the
terrace in approximately 150 sacks. Sri Narayanan. K, PTA President inaugurated
the programme. Sri. Suresh sir, Asst. Agriculture Officer gave valuable
instructions to volunteers on how to protect the vegetables. Programme officer
and other teachers were joined them.
save a teenager
An awareness class on the disadvantage of intoxicated articles like
alcohol, smoking, drugs, panmasala, etc was conducted on 19/10/2011 by Sri.
Sijo Jose, Health Inspector. Volunteers secretary Master Abhinand gave the
welcome speech and Kumari Varalashmi gave vote of thanks. The class was very
fruitful and interesting.
MEETING
NSS unit organized a meeting for discussing the smooth functioning
of youth festival. The volunteers were divided into groups and allotted duties
for them.
JALAYANAM
NSS UNIT selected volunteers to participate the One day programme at
Kanhangad as the part of Jalayanam-Jalasuraksha. Voluteers decided to send post
cards to various persons to propagate the programme. They also decided to
conduct a Jalasuraksha Rally on 22/11/11.
JALASURAKSHA
RALLY
A jalasurksha rally was conducted by the NSS Unit on 22/11/11 for
propagating Jalayanam-Jalasuraksha
programme. Volunteers used many slogans and placards showing the importance of
water.
One Day Trip
A one day trip was organized by the NSS Unit on 05/12/2011. The team started the trip
at sharp 8 AM. They visited
Parassinikadavu Temple, Snake park, Kannur Science park, Kannur fort, Swanthanam oldage
home at Thaliparmba, etc. Voluteers could interact with orphan old people and
could understand their pitiable condition.
HARVESTING
INAUGURATION
It was a memorable day for all the NSS volunteers in their life. The
vegitable harvesting was inaugurated by Smt. S. Preetha (President, Madikai
Grama Panchayath) on 07/12/2011.
Sri. Narayanan. P (Chairman, Standing Committee), Sri. Suresh Sir(Assist,
Agriculture Officer) and all the teachers participated in the programme. All
were happy and in an enthusiastic mood. The vegetables, beans and lady’s
figures were auctioned. The auction also thrilled and excited not only the
participants but the audience also.
ONE
DAY PROGRAMME
A one day programme was conducted on 10/12/2011 at 9.30 AM. Sri Chandrashekaran Sir, GHSS Hosdurg inaugurated
the programme. He conducted the pre-orientation class for the special camp and
gave necessary instructions. In the after noon
volunteers were divided into groups and engaging the vegitable planting.
Republic
Day
Republic day was celebrated by hoisting the national flag. All the
volunteers engaged in cleaning the
school ground and school surrounding.
